    Cookie Policy

    What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, improve efficiency, and provide information to site owners. Cookies may be 'session' cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or 'persistent' cookies (remaining on your device for a set period or until deleted manually).

    How ClearDebt Uses Cookies

ClearDebt uses cookies and similar technologies (such as browser local storage and tracking pixels) to operate the Service, keep you logged in, remember your preferences, understand how you use the app, and display relevant financial product offers. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles for third-party ad networks unrelated to our affiliate partnerships.

    Types of Cookies We Use

    Strictly Necessary

    Always Active

Required for the Service to function. These enable authentication, session management, and security protections. You cannot opt out of these without breaking your ability to log in.

    • Authentication tokens (via Supabase) that keep you logged in during your session.
    • CSRF protection tokens that prevent cross-site request forgery attacks.
    • Session identifiers that maintain your state as you navigate the app.

    Functional

    Optional

These remember your preferences and settings to improve your experience. Disabling them will not break core functionality but may reduce convenience.

    • Remembered display preferences (chart type, currency display format).
    • Last-visited dashboard state.

    Analytics

    Optional

We use analytics technologies to understand which features are used most, where users encounter friction, and how to improve the product. Data is aggregated and anonymized.

    • Page views and in-app event tracking.
    • Session duration and navigation paths.
    • Feature interaction events (e.g., 'Ran debt comparison').

    Affiliate & Third-Party Tracking

    Third-Party

When you click a balance transfer card offer or affiliate link in the Service, our affiliate network partners (such as CardRatings.com or card issuer programs) may place tracking cookies or pixels on your device to attribute the referral. These are set by third parties and governed by their own privacy policies.

    • Affiliate click ID cookies placed by networks like Commission Junction or Impact Radius.
    • Conversion tracking pixels that fire when you complete a card application.

    Third-Party Cookie Providers

The main third parties that may set cookies when you use ClearDebt:

    Supabase

Our database and authentication provider. Sets session cookies necessary for login and data access. See supabase.com/privacy.

    Stripe

Our payment processor. Sets cookies for secure payment processing and fraud prevention. See stripe.com/privacy.

    Affiliate Networks

Networks such as CardRatings.com, Commission Junction, or Impact Radius may set tracking cookies when you click affiliate links. Governed by each network's own privacy policy.

    Local Storage & Similar Technologies

In addition to cookies, we may use browser local storage or session storage to persist small amounts of data on your device — for example, to remember your last-viewed dashboard state. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to third parties. You can clear it through your browser's developer settings or by clearing your browser's site data.

    Managing & Opting Out

You have several options for controlling cookies:

    Browser Settings

All modern browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in.

    • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
    • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
    • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
    • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

    Opt-Out of Analytics

You may install browser extensions such as uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger to block analytics tracking across the web.

    Opt-Out of Affiliate Tracking

Visit the NAI opt-out page (optout.networkadvertising.org) or the DAA opt-out page (optout.aboutads.info). Note: opting out stops tracking cookies but does not remove affiliate links from the Service.

Disabling strictly necessary cookies (authentication/session) will prevent you from accessing your ClearDebt account.

    Do Not Track

Some browsers transmit a 'Do Not Track' (DNT) signal. Because there is no universal standard for interpreting DNT signals, ClearDebt does not currently alter its data practices in response to them. We will revisit this if an industry standard is established.

    Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. We will post the updated policy with a new effective date. For material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice.
